StarTran Announces New Transfer Center Location Proposal

Published on February 27, 2024

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Director Liz Elliott today said new proposed locations for a temporary StarTran transfer center at South 11th and “L” streets will not occupy parking stalls on South 11th Street between “L” and “K” streets. The StarTran Advisory Board will vote on the new transfer center relocation proposal on Thursday, February 29.

Director Elliott said StarTran’s new proposal moves two proposed bus transfer areas from South 11th Street onto “L” Street along the south curb of the Carriage Park Parking Garage, 1128 “L” St. The other four proposed transfer areas would be along the south and east curbs at the former Settell’s Printing building at 333. S. 11th St.

The transfer center would remain at South 11th and “L” streets area for an estimated three years while a new multi-modal transportation center is constructed.

Elliott thanked riders, residents, and businesses for providing input regarding the transfer center relocation at two open houses in mid-February.

"StarTran is committed to serving the Lincoln community by providing efficient and convenient transportation options for all residents,” Elliott said. “After evaluating the valuable input from our riders, residents, and local businesses, our team at LTU worked to find an optimal solution for the proposed transfer center relocation. We are pleased to announce a revised plan that addresses community feedback while maintaining the functionality of the transit system and fulfilling the federal requirements.”
