Published on January 28, 2025

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) invites the public to an open house on Tuesday, February 11, regarding planned improvements to the intersections of 48th and Calvert streets and 56th and Calvert streets. The event will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Holmes Golf Course Clubhouse, 3701 S. 70th St.

At the 48th and Calvert streets intersection, work would include removing and replacing the existing traffic signal. At the 56th and Calvert streets intersection, work would include the removal of the traffic signal and reconstruction of the intersection with a roundabout. The project would also replace utilities and reconstruct curb ramps and sidewalks to comply with the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.

This project is needed to improve safety and increase traffic flow. The improvement project is estimated to cost $3.63 million. Construction is expected to begin as early as summer 2027 with anticipated completion by fall 2028.

Residents are encouraged to make suggestions or express concerns regarding the proposed project. Design information will be displayed and personnel from the project team will be present to answer questions and receive comments.
