Plan Forward Open House set for October 23
Published on October 13, 2025
Community members are invited to an open house October 23, regarding Plan Forward, a coordinated effort by Lincoln and Lancaster County to shape how the community grows and moves through 2050. The free event will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Culler Middle School, 5201 Vine Street.
Community members can learn about the projects, share input, and submit local street improvement requests. A virtual open house is also available for those unable to attend the in-person event. The virtual open house is available now through the end of October at lincoln.ne.gov/PlanForward. The Lincoln on the Move initiative is not part of the virtual open house.
The Plan Forward initiative includes updates to the 2050 Comprehensive Plan and Long Range Transportation Plan, along with the new Lincoln Mobility Plan and the next phase of Lincoln on the Move street improvement and growth plan.
The 2050 Comprehensive Plan, led by the Lincoln-Lancaster County Planning Department, will guide growth in land use, housing, transportation, and sustainability as Lancaster County adds an estimated 100,000 residents over the next 25 years – most within the city of Lincoln.
In parallel, the Long Range Transportation Plan and Lincoln Mobility Plan, led by the Lincoln Metropolitan Planning Organization, will define a community-driven vision for safe, reliable, and connected travel – spanning sidewalks, trails, transit, highways, and rural roadways.
The City’s Lincoln on the Move initiative will also outline the next eight years of street improvements and growth investments across all four quadrants of the city.
