City Crews Stop Wastewater Sewer Line Overflow Thursday

Published on March 20, 2025

The Wastewater Division of Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) contained and stopped a wastewater overflow early Thursday, March 20, near Ox Bow Circle and North 33rd Street. A power failure at a lift station caused by the March 19 blizzard, prevented pump movement, which allowed wastewater to back up in the sanitary sewer collection system and release into a portion of Salt Creek.

City crews immediately addressed the affected area. Power has since been restored and normal lift station operations have resumed.

Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department was informed about the overflow and staff also responded to the cleanup.
