Lincoln Fire and Rescue (LFR) invites community members to a Station 8 open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3. Firefighters returned to the newly completed Station 8, 2760 S. 17th St., in February. Attendees are asked to park on nearby residential streets and to use caution crossing Van Dorn and 17th streets.

Replacing a facility built on the same site in 1958, the new station houses 10 firefighters and four apparatus bays, which hold one engine, one truck and one medic unit. Features of the new 16,000 square foot station include:
Lincoln Fire and Rescue is a combined fire and emergency services department. LFR responds to all 911 calls in Lincoln and in nearby communities that contract with LFR. Lincoln Fire and Rescue has received the Mission Lifeline Award from the American Heart Association for 10 consecutive years.
