Portions of Several Streets to Close Beginning May 27, 28

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) today announced that portions of several streets will close beginning Tuesday, May 27 and Wednesday, May 28. The closures are as follows:

Adams Street from 46th to 48th streets will close beginning Tuesday, May 27 for a street improvement project. This work is scheduled to be completed by mid-August. The recommended route is Cornhusker Highway to 48th Street to Fremont Street to 56th Street to Adams Street.

Southbound I-180 from Cornhusker Highway to “R” Street will be reduced to one lane beginning Tuesday, May 27 for work to extend the median and prohibit turns into a new private development. This work is scheduled to be completed by the end of June.

40th Street from South Street to Randolph Street and “A” Street from 33rd to 48th streets will close beginning Wednesday, May 28, for a water main replacement project. Work on “A” Street is scheduled to be completed by the end of June, while work on 40th Street is expected to finish by mid-August.

For 40th Street from South Street to Randolph Street, the recommended route is South Street to 48th Street to Randolph Street. For “A” Street from 33rd Street to 48th Street, the recommended route is “A” Street to 48th Street to Randolph Street to 33rd Street. Local access to homes and businesses in the area will be maintained. StarTran Route 54-Veteran’s Hospital will be detoured during this work.

Travelers are encouraged to seek an alternate route and exercise caution around these closures. LTU appreciates the public’s patience during these closures and reminds residents that project dates are subject to change due to weather and unforeseen circumstances.
