New Portion of Pine Lake Road to Close May 28
Published on May 27, 2025
Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) today announced that the eastbound lanes of Pine Lake Road between South 14th and South 20th streets will close beginning Wednesday, May 28, for the second phase of a Lincoln on the Move street improvement project. This work is scheduled to be completed by early July.
The closure for the first phase of work on the eastbound lanes of Pine Lake Road between South 27th and South 29th streets is scheduled to open to single lane traffic in mid-June.
During the second phase of work, eastbound traffic will use the westbound lanes between South 14th and just before South 20th streets. This head-to-head traffic configuration means vehicles will travel side by side in opposite directions in the dual westbound lanes. Access to the south shopping area is available via South 14th Street or South 20th Street. The South 20th Street intersection will remain open to all traffic.
Travelers are encouraged to plan ahead and take the following steps to help reduce travel delays:
- Leave early to allow extra time to reach your destination.
- Create a route plan and explore alternate routes.
- Download the Waze app for real-time traffic updates and detours.
- Visit lincoln.ne.gov/projects to stay up to date on construction progress.
Two stops along StarTran Route 13-South 13th will be closed during this work. For more information on StarTran routes and detours, visit lincoln.ne.gov/transit or call 402-476-1234.
LTU appreciates the public’s patience during this closure and reminds residents that project dates are subject to change due to weather and unforeseen circumstances. Lincoln on the Move is a quarter-cent sales tax street investment effort focused on enhancing Lincoln’s street infrastructure.
