Pioneers Park Wild Adventures Event Set For May 17

The Pioneers Park Nature Center invites community members to the Wild Adventures outdoor exploration event Saturday, May 17. The free event will be from 1 to 4 p.m. at the west end of Pioneers Park, 3201 S. Coddington Ave.

Participants will enjoy a wide range of interactive and educational activities presented by local organizations passionate about nature, conservation, and outdoor fun. Visitors can also explore the Hudson Cabin and Cunningham Schoolhouse, take part in guided hikes, and watch the turkey vulture feeding demonstration.

Wild Adventures activities and presenters include:

  • Nebraska Mammal ID – Wachiska Audubon Society
  • Make Hanging Bird Feeders – International Quilt Museum
  • Touchable History – Nebraska History Museum
  • Leaf Rubbings – Lincoln City Libraries
  • Bike Bells and Horseshoes – Lincoln DEVO
  • Scavenger Hunt and Telescopes – Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska
  • Kayak, Biking and Wobble Board – UNL Outdoor Adventure
  • Make a Magnifying Glass – Lincoln Children’s Museum
  • Bird Netting Demo – Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center
  • Reptiles and Amphibians – Nature Center Staff
  • Fossil Dig Boxes – Nebraska State Museum/Morrill Hall
  • Pollinators, Compost and Gardening – Backyard Farmer/Master Gardener
