Aging Partners to Host Brain Health Presentations

Aging Partners invites community members to a series of presentations Thursday, July 17, that explore the interconnections between body, mind and spirit. The event is from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Aging Partners Victory Park Center, 600 S. 70th St. Check-in time is 2:45 p.m.
Presentations include:
  • Six Pillars of Brain Health by Carolyn Walden, AARP Nebraska Speakers Bureau volunteer: A lifestyle that supports brain health can make a big difference to your well-being throughout life. Learn about the six pillars of brain health, stress management, sleep and the benefits of just moving around more.
  • Discover Aging Partners Health and Fitness by Aging Partners’ Susan Winkler and Ann Heydt: Learn the value of weightlifting to improve muscle tone and strength, including cardio and strength machines. You’ll also discover the benefits of Tai Chi like relaxation, balance, focus, and movements emphasizing abdominal breathing and a natural range of motion.
  • Dinner prepared by Chef Anthony Warrior: This meal focuses on cultural nutrition, which feeds the mental, spiritual and holistic balance necessary for optimal health. The menu includes Riverview Bison grilled ribeye, maple glazed roasted squash medley, mushroom, Anasazi bean and Leech Lake wild rice, grilled peach and dried berry compote on sweet corn cakes, toasted corn and cinnamon honey tea. 
Cost is $35 and the registration and payment deadline is Thursday, July 10. To register, call 402-441-7158. Space is limited and early registration is encouraged.
