Lincoln residents are invited to celebrate National Night Out with free community events Tuesday, August 5. The annual event co-hosted by Lincoln Parks and Recreation and the Lincoln Police Department promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood awareness, friendship and support.
The events are as follows:
- Air Park Community Center at Arnold Heights Pool, 4000 NW. 46th Street – This community celebration in collaboration with the NW. 48th Neighborhoods Advisory Council will be from 5 to 8 p.m., featuring yard games, free food, Kona Ice, and a free swim night.
- “F” Street Community Center, 1225 “F” Street – This celebration will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and feature free burgers and bingo, with prizes for teens and additional games for all ages.
As part of the event, the City encourages residents to turn on porch lights and participate in neighborhood gatherings that foster safety, connection, and trust, said Maggie Stuckey-Ross, Director of Lincoln Parks and Recreation.
“Lincoln Parks and Recreation is committed to creating spaces and special events where neighbors can connect and families feel welcome.” Stuckey-Ross said. “Events like National Night Out bring people together in a way that strengthens neighborhoods, builds community connections, and helps people feel safe and supported where they live.”
In addition to the City-sponsored events, the Lincoln Police Department will visit 10 to 15 neighborhood-led celebrations hosted by local watch groups, associations, and community organizations across the city.
“National Night Out is a chance to strengthen community ties and celebrate the partnerships that help make our neighborhoods safer,” said Michon Morrow, Lincoln Police Chief. “When residents and officers connect in positive, everyday ways, it builds trust and improves public safety for everyone.”
