Several Streets to Close Beginning July 6, 7, 8

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) today announced that several streets will close beginning July 6, 7, and 8. The closures are as follows:

Lincoln Mile races – 5 a.m. to noon Sunday, July 6

12th Street between "Q" and "R" streets
Centennial Mall between "P" and "O" streets
"P" Street between 14th and 16th streets
"Q" and "R" streets between 12th and 16th streets

Railroad Track Repair – 40th Street between Sweetbriar Lane and Nebraska Parkway will be closed for railroad track repairs beginning Monday, July 7. This work is expected to be completed by Friday, July 11. The recommended detour is 40th Street to Nebraska Parkway to 27th Street to Old Cheney Road. StarTran Route 56-Sheridan will be detoured during this work.

Nebraska Parkway Street Improvement Project – Nebraska Parkway between 48th and 56th streets will be reduced to one lane in each direction for a paving project beginning Tuesday, July 8. Left turns at 48th and 56th streets will be prohibited. This work is expected to be completed in winter 2025/2026.

Travelers are encouraged to seek alternate routes and exercise caution around these closures. LTU appreciates the public’s patience during these closures and reminds residents that project dates are subject to change due to weather and unforeseen circumstances.
