Safe Streets Lincoln Open House set for August 21

Published on August 06, 2025

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) invites community members to a public open house on Thursday, August 21, to learn more about the Safe Streets Lincoln initiative and provide input on the Vision Zero Action Plan. The event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Elementary School, 225 South 25th St.
Safe Streets Lincoln reflects the City’s commitment to building a transportation system that works for all residents, whether they walk, bike, drive, or roll. As part of this initiative, the City is developing the Vision Zero Action Plan, a strategy to eliminate traffic fatalities and reduce serious injuries by 60% by 2045.
The Vision Zero Action Plan will identify key safety priorities, recommend strategies, and chart a path toward zero traffic deaths. Two task forces, one made up of community members and another of City staff, are guiding development to ensure the plan reflects both lived experience and cross-departmental coordination.
LTU and project team members will share safety data, present preliminary system-wide strategies, and invite feedback from attendees. Community input remains vital to shaping a plan that works for Lincoln. Community members are encouraged to attend, ask questions, and share insights that support safer streets.
