Public Invited to Aging Partners' March Musical Performances
Aging Partners invites senior citizens and the public to attend two music performances in March. Meal and transportation reservations for both events must be made at least two days in advance by calling 402-441-7158. The events are as follows:
- "Still I Rise!" - Dinner 5:30 p.m., performance 6:30 p.m., Thursday, March 9, Cotner Center Condominium, 1540 N. Cotner Blvd. This evening of music and theater inspired by the writings of Maya Angelou is presented as part of Women's History Month. The production is directed by Chet Kincaid and features actresses Deirdre Barney, Melissa Lewis and Laurie Martinez as well as musicians Rachel Mulcahy, Vickie Barry and CA Waller.
The suggested meal contribution is $10 for those ages 60 and over and a $10 fee for those under age 60. There is a $5 suggested contribution for all those who are attending the performance only. The catered Hy-Vee meal includes lasagna, tossed salad, garlic bread and peach dessert. There is a $4 suggested contribution for in-town roundtrip transportation.
- Paddy's Wacky Dinner and a Show - 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 11, Auld Pavilion, 1650 Memorial Drive. This fundraiser for the Lincoln and Lancaster County Senior Centers features traditional Irish folk music from Ireland by veteran musicians Chris Sayre, Terry Keefe and David Marsh of "Paddywhack." The traditional St. Patrick's Day meal of corned beef, cabbage, carrots, potatoes and rye bread begins at 5 p.m., and the cost is $12. Roundtrip transportation in Lincoln is available for $4.
Humana is the gold sponsor for the Paddywhack event. Other sponsors include Asera Care Hospice, Country House Residence, HoriSun Hospice, Hospice Community Care of Nebraska, the High Plains Alzheimer's Special Care Center, Camelot Transportation, Inc. and Right at Home In Home Care & Assistance.
