To celebrate America Recycles Day, Mayor Chris Beutler today recognized local organizations for their efforts to divert waste from the City landfill. The organizations and businesses are participants in the Recycle Lincoln Leadership Recognition Program started by the City Recycling Office to reward groups for their recycling and/or composting efforts.
The program has four leadership levels based on the percentage of waste that is recycled or composted:
Three businesses have achieved the Zero Waste level: Carson+Co Global, Lincoln Running Company and The Printer.
The City has also awarded 11 Gold-level designations: Arbor Day Foundation, Assurity Life Insurance, Embassy Suites by Hilton, Gamma Phi Beta, Goodwill Industries, HBE, House of Flowers, NeighborWorks Lincoln, Region V Systems, Star City Heating & Cooling and Zipline Brewing.
Organizations that want to begin recycling or are already doing so are eligible to apply to the program. More information and applications are available at recycle.lincoln.ne.gov/recognition.
