This Board hears and determines appeals regarding the suitability of construction materials and methods. It hears requests for variances on the application of the code on historic buildings.
Special Requirements: Registered engineers, registered architect, residential contractor, and general building contractor must be members of the Board.
This is a working group which studies proposed changes to the City Code regarding Building and Safety issues including: Building Code, Electrical Code, Mechanical Code, Plumbing Code, and the Uniform Fire Code. The committee reviews and approves proposals of various construction code task forces prior to City Council action. A study of proposed changes for each of the codes is conducted every three years.
Special Requirements: Appointed once every 3 years to review codes and make changes when necessary.
Pursuant to LMC 20.04.030(205), this board provides the final interpretation of the Dangerous Building Code through the appeal process.
Special Requirements: Cannot be a city employee.
This board provides advice on the suitability of new or alternate materials and methods of installation and reasonable interpretation of the code. It makes recommendations to the Mayor at his/her request. It adopts rules and regulations for conducting investigations, determines minimum qualifications for applicants, and develops examinations for registrations.
Special Requirements: Two members are professional registered engineers and two are registered Master Electricians who must be Lincoln residents.
Developing rules and regulations for the examination of applicants for registration is this board's responsibility. The board determines minimum qualifications required for taking an examination.
Special Requirements: Two members must be registered Master Plumbers and one must be a professional registered mechanical engineer.
This board examines the qualifications of applicants desiring to be registered as fire suppression contractors or journeymen.
Special Requirements: Members include a sprinkler system contractor, chemical system contractor and a registered mechanical engineer.
This board adopts rules and regulations for the examination of applicants to be registered as master or journeyman gas fitters.
Special Requirements: Members must include City of Lincoln Chief Plumbing Inspector, two master gas fitters, one natural gas supplier, one propane gas industry representative, and one registered mechanical engineer.
This board determines the suitability of alternate materials, methods of installation and provides reasonable interpretation of the heating, ventilating and cooling codes.
Special Requirements: Members of the Heating, Ventilating and Cooling Examiners Board, and two members qualified by experience and training.
The rules and regulations for applicant qualifications are adopted by this board. It also develops and grades applicants' exams.
Special Requirements: Two registered heating-cooling contractors and one professional mechanical engineer.
Charged by Sections 5.51.050 and 21.14.090 of the Lincoln Municipal Code, this board hears appeals regarding revocation of apartment licenses and violation of the Minimum Housing Code. It also reviews the housing code for possible changes, which are then recommended to the Mayor and City Council.
Special Requirements: Must be a resident of Lincoln.
This board determines the suitability of alternate materials and types of plumbing installations. It reviews the interpretation of the code by the Administration.
Special Requirements: Two members are registered Master Plumbers, other members have experience and training related to plumbing.

This board adopts rules and regulations for the examination of applicants to be registered as water conditioning contractors or installers.
Special Requirements: One water conditioning contractor and the members of the examining board of plumbers.
