HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION OF LINCOLN Mike Benker, GMB, CGR, CAPS, CGP is the Executive Vice President of the Home Builders Association of Lincoln (HBAL). Mike will touch on the economic impact of building and remodeling, current and expected trends and the effects of regulation here in Lincoln. Mike was requested as a guest speaker as this topic is inclusive to all constituents.
After graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in Civil Engineering, Mike became a third generation builder and remodeler and served Lincoln for twelve years in this capacity before starting with HBAL. Mike has served the industry at the local, state and national level and has received national recognition for completed projects. He has served on various committees with the City of Lincoln and also volunteers for the Village of Greenwood. He maintains industry designations, lead safe remodeling and OSHA certifications while continuing to study and review building science, technology, codes, legislation and other industry influencers
Mike will attempt to explain what the number of housing starts means for Lincolnís economy including taxes and jobs, how it compares over the last few years and where impact fees fit in the picture. He will share the various categories of impact fees and how much has been collected and spent since approved by the Lincoln City Council.
There will be a questions and answer time after Mikeís presentation. Heíll open the floor to your questions on Lincolnís building industry.
