COUNCILWOMAN CYNDI LAMM'S
NORTHEAST CITIZENSí MEETING
THURSDAY, August 17, 2017

This month we are doing something different!! In honor of the UNL Dairy Storeís 100 year anniversary, we would like to invite you to join us for an Ice Cream Social!!

The UNL Dairy Store opened in 1917 and began as a place to process milk produced by dairy cows that were kept on East Campus to supply milk for campus dining halls. It evolved into an ice cream and cheese store, with students getting hands-on experience. Now, with celebrations in sight for the Dairy Storeís 100th anniversary, the Dairy Store remains the place for hands-on education and a model harmony between agriculture, industry and business. Though the Dairy Store has been made to adapt in recent years, the University no longer cultivates dairy cows either on campus or at extension facilities - a majority of its products still originate near Lincoln. Currently, the store purchases all their milk from Prairieland in Firth, Nebraska. The Dairy Stores student education has also allowed it the freedom and creativity to test new flavors. Among the favorites is the Scarlet & Cream, which features a sweetcream base with a strawberry swirl mixed in - based on UNLís colors. Full of seasonal and staff favorites, the Dairy Store also offers Big Ten flavors, with an ice creamís color profile to match the colors of each Big Ten school.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday!
