At Large — Terry Werner
Picture of Terry Werner Dear Friends,
It is a great honor to serve the people of Lincoln My pledge to you is nonpartisan, balanced leadership; careful, well-planned growth; and social equality and justice. I am committed to represent all of the residents of Lincoln, but I am most committed to those who feel under-represented - the elderly, those in the older neighborhoods, the small locally owned businesses, the low income households, the diverse ethnic community and the working men and women. I want to take care of the people and businesses that are already here. I will do only what is best for Lincoln. I will work to improve our quality of life through good schools, strong neighborhoods, a vibrant downtown, a healthy business environment, parks, trails and open spaces. I am committed to serve you!. I welcome your ideas and comments.
Terry's Signature

Background

Terry is a life-long Nebraskan and has been a Lincoln resident since 1977. Long ago he learned the value of hard work, good ethics and community service. Raised in the small community of Humphrey, Nebraska, where his father ran a small business and served as mayor, Terry was one of eighteen children and worked basically full time from the age of thirteen. Terry put himself through the University of Nebraska, graduating with a degree in Social Work. Following college, he managed retail stores for Baker Hardware. After fourteen years with the Baker Hardware company, he purchased the College View Dairy Queen and later added Waldo's Family Restaurant to his management portfolio. In 1995, he opened Nebraska Discount Travel and later sold the restaurants in order to concentrate on the travel business.

Terry's Family Terry's wife, Mary, is also self-employed. She has a Master of Social Work degree and is a mental health therapist. Together, Mary and Terry have four children.
