A new Marine Corps Memorial will be dedicated as part of a public Veterans Day program at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 11 at the Veterans Memorial Garden in Antelope Park. The public is invited to the program, which also will include remarks from Mayor Coleen J. Seng, a keynote address by Colonel Eric Litaker of the ROTC program at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, Silver Rose presentations and music by soloist Zuri and bagpiper Edwin Mukusha. “The Marine Corps Memorial will be a beautiful addition to this very special park,” said Mayor Seng. “I salute the Marine veterans who worked very hard to complete the fund-raising and construction of the memorial. I encourage residents to attend this patriotic event to honor our soldiers, past and present, who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.” Those attending are encouraged to bring their own seating. If the weather is bad, the program will be moved to the Auld Recreation Center just west of the Veterans Memorial Garden. |
