A two-block section of S.27th Street from "A" to Everett streets will reopen about 6 p.m. this evening, one week ahead of schedule. The street has been closed since Monday for the construction of a conduit for a power line, part of the Lincoln Electric System's Central Lincoln Reliability Project. The project was expected to take about 11 days to complete.
Greg Topil with the Traffic Operations Section of the Public Works and Utilities Department said the early reopening is the result of extra effort by contractor K-2 Construction.
