Electrical Contractors

Step 1.Review the requirements

Permits are valid for 120 days from issuances. You can extend the time by written request to the Building and Safety department and attention the request to the Chief Electrical Inspector.

All code requirements for electrical permits are available in TITLE 23 ELECTRICITY

Step 2.Getting Started

  1. Complete the Contractor Registration Form
    • The Contractor Registration Form lets us know what information you want on file, who to contact, and allows you to submit your insurance information as part of the process.
  2. Register for a Citizen Access account
    • Citizen Access is our online permitting system.  Create an account as a contractor.  Contractor accounts will need special permissions added to their Citizen Access account by our office. This can take up to 24-48 hours for our office to process.  Please indicate the email address you plan to use in your Contractor Registration Form otherwise this may delay this process.
  3. The Master Contractor must complete their annual registration online

Step 3.Application Process

The application will take about 10 minutes to complete.

Apply with Citizen Access

Are you needing the legal address? Use the County Assessor's Site

Is your project in a commercial building or shared property space? Use the GIS Map.

You can also check with your inspector to verify the requirements of the code. Please use our Inspector Area Map to locate the inspector assigned to your area.

Step 4.Make your payment

You can pay online through Citizen Access

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover.

The permit issued must be inspected before any work is concealed and must also be inspected when the installation of the work is completed.

An inspection can be scheduled through our Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system, SelecTxt, Citizen Access or by contacting our office. For more information, please see our inspections page.
