For the 39th consecutive year, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the City of Lincoln for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ended August 31, 2021. The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report. The Accounting Division of the Finance Department leads the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the City. 

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

The mission of the Finance Department is primarily as a service provider to other departments within a City and County government and to citizens. We seek to support and enhance the effective and efficient operation of City/County government, maintain the City's fiscal integrity, preserve the City's bond rating, and provide consistent, reliable and timely information to the Mayor, City Council and the general public.
