HPV Vaccine

HPV Vaccine is Cancer Prevention! (CDC)
HPV is dangerous – Over 36,500 men & women in the U.S. are estimated to be diagnosed with a cancer caused by HPV every year.
Cancers Caused by HPV are Preventable
HPV vaccine is safe & effective – With more than 135 million doses of HPV vaccines distributed in the United States, and more than 15 years of monitoring and research have accumulated reassuring evidence that human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination provides safe, effective, and long-lasting protection against cancers caused by HPV infections (CDC).
HPV vaccinations could prevent more than 90% of cancers caused by HPV from ever developing.
Vaccines only work if they’re given before exposure – We do not wait until a child is at risk to give any recommended vaccine. HPV vaccine is recommended for boys & girls ages 11 or 12 (and can be started at age 9) before they are exposed to the virus & because it produces a better immune response at that age.

2021 Sexually Transmitted Disease Treatment Guidelines, CDC - Health care clinicians play a critical role in preventing and treating STIs. These guidelines are intended to assist with that effort. Although the guidelines emphasize treatment, prevention strategies & diagnostic recommendations also are discussed.
