This project will replace the 6-inch water main along 48th Street from Leighton Avenue to Gladstone Street.

This work is being done in coordination with a street improvement project on 48th Street from Leighton Avenue to Superior Street. More info: Street Improvement Project

Project Location

Construction is taking place in 2023.

Access During Construction

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities and its partners have divided these projects into four phases of construction. By creating this plan, the phases of construction will assist drivers, those living in nearby neighborhoods, and businesses directly impacted by construction to increase route flexibility through this project. Each of the four phases of construction is estimated to take one to three months to complete. Once all four phases are complete, the community will be able to enjoy a smooth street and new water infrastructure in the area for years to come.

Lane closures and roadway closures are anticipated throughout the phases of the project. Local traffic can access businesses using adjacent residential streets. The traveling public is encouraged to find alternative routes and to use the WAZE app for assistance.

Public Open House

A public open house was held regarding planned improvements on North 48th Street and in the University Place Neighborhood.
