UPCO Park

UPCO is a neighborhood park at north 40th and Adams Streets. This park includes rentable ballfields and shelters.

Originally a half-acre park with a swing and slide, UPCO Park was transformed into a six-acre green space to help meet recreation needs of the developing community. The city Parks and Recreation Department worked closely with the University Place Community Organization to design the park plan. The original plan was complimented by a tree planting effort lead by the University Place Community Organization.

UPCO Park was dedicated on a spring Saturday morning, April 30,1983. Mayor Helen Boosalis, state Sen. Don Wesely, and City Councilwoman Margrethe Ahlschwede planted a 15-foot Gingko tree during the dedication. The Lincoln Northeast High School Band performed during the event. When the park was dedicated, it included walking paths, tennis, volleyball, and basketball courts, horseshoe area, and a seasonal ice-skating pond.
