No. 710 Locomotive Train

A black and silver steam engine train.

About the Sculpture

This steam train adjacent to Iron Horse Park was built in the Burlington Shops in Havelock in 1901. It originally served as a passenger train, but transformed to a short-haul locomotive in the 20s. When steam engines became obsolete, Burlington refurbished the locomotive and gifted it to the city in 1955. It would be placed for display on a hilltop in Pioneers Park until 1991 when it was taken to Shop Services Inc. in Mt. Pleasant Iowa for refurbishing. When it was returned to Lincoln, it was placed on Track One beside Burlington's depot in the Haymarket where it remains to this day.

The front of the 710 steam engine. There is a small platform above the grill but below the 710 marking.

The side of a black engine train car, there is a red bar across the top and across the side in yellow paint is written
