About the Sculpture

This life size bronze tennis racket leans against a park bench in Jan Pitsch Green and will complement the existing sculpture of a poodle, Emma. It is a memorial to Margaret Small as indicated by the name on the handle. Margaret Small became the caretaker of Emma after Jan Pitsch passed away in 2008. Small worked at Lincoln Telephone Company/Lincoln Cellular for 40 years. She loved playing sports like tennis, was a master gardener, and loved taking care of their standard poodles. She passed away April 16, 2019 to pancreatic cancer and a group of her friends who all played tennis together wanted to honor her memory with a sculpture made by Sondra Jonson, who also made Jan's Emma.
