Wind Spirit

Metal twisting and winding to form a humanesque figure.

About the Sculpture

Windspirit was donated by State Security Savings and was dedicated on April 22nd, 1981 on Centennial Mall in front of the State Office Building. This sculpture was donated to commemorate Lincoln's designation as Tree City U.S.A. The figure atop the 7-foot pole represents a bird riding the wind currents.

Lindhard said, "I've abstracted a bird but it's important to me taht it's a bird and that it evokes some of the emotion of a bird in flight, the feeling of fluid motion."
