The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) released the results of its Winter Traffic Safety Project today. It was conducted between December 4, 2025, and March 31, 2026. The focus of this project was to increase traffic enforcement to make an impact during the traditionally high-risk periods for collisions. During the project, officers who are highly proactive in traffic enforcement worked overtime, outside of their typical shifts. They focused on speeding, driving too fast for conditions, following too closely, and failure to yield the right of way offenses, which are primary contributing offenses that lead to crashes. The enforcement campaign was made possible by a grant from our safety partners at the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
