The City of Lincoln is excited to offer community members a variety of fun and free opportunities in 2026 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States. Whether you are visiting patriotic locations around town, enjoying special access to pools and park shelters, or gathering with neighbors for an epic block party, Lincoln is where you will want to spend this unforgettable moment in history.

Events and Activities

Uncle Sam Jam

The 2026 Uncle Sam Jam Independence Day Celebration is Friday, July 3, at Haymarket Park.

No Cost Open Shelter Reservations

No cost reservation of the open picnic shelters located in parks will be available July 1 through 5.

Block Party Fee Waivers

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities will waive the $45 block party permit fees through July 5 for America 250 celebrations.

America 250 BINGO

Celebrate the season with America 250 BINGO! Printed cards may be picked up at the Parks and Recreation Administration Office, 3131 O Street - Suite 300.

Free Pool Day

All City pools will offer free admission on July 4, 2026, during regular operating hours, 1-5 p.m.

America 250 Planting Initiative

In honor of America's 250th birthday, Lincoln Parks and Recreation will plant more than 250 new trees across the community this year.

LPD Patch Fundraiser

Community members are invited to purchase America 250-themed patches to commemorate our nation's birthday.

America 250 Poster Contest

The City held an America 250 City Art Poster Contest from February through April.
