Published on October 16, 2025

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) invites residents to participate in the final Name That Snowplow contest at lincoln.ne.gov/NameThatSnowplow. Residents may submit snowplow names now through November 5, and through late December, vote for their favorites, with the winning names appearing on eight City snowplows.

“Winter in Lincoln is a time to celebrate our community’s creativity and the hard work of our winter operations team,” said LTU Director Liz Elliott. “The Name that Snowplow contest lets community members have fun leaving their mark on these hardworking snowplows. After two years of clever entries like Betty Whiteout, Truck Norris, and Sleetwood Mac, we can’t wait to see this year’s submissions.”

This is the third and final year of the Name That Snowplow contest. Elliott said in 2024, the community submitted more than 500 names. LTU snowfighters reviewed the name submissions and selected the final 25 names for consideration. The community then voted on their top final eight names.
