Published on October 21, 2025
The City of Lincoln invites community members to a Project “O” Street pre-construction open house Tuesday, November 4. The free event is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the lobby of Union Bank Place, 1248 “O” St. Project “O” Street is an initiative to enhance “O” Street from Ninth to 16th streets. The project includes the 14th Street Music District, the 11th Street Greenway, and surrounding spaces in downtown Lincoln.
“Improvements will benefit businesses, residents, and visitors as we invest in sound infrastructure,” said Liz Elliott, Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Director. “They include replacing a water main, improving street conditions, and helping create an even more dynamic and accessible downtown corridor.”
Construction on Project “O” Street is scheduled to begin later this fall and be completed in fall 2027. To maximize efficiency and minimize disruption in this area, the City will complete construction in three overlapping phases. They include:
- Phase 1: Late fall 2025 to fall 2026 – 16th to 14th streets
- Phase 2: Spring 2026 to fall 2026 – 14th to 11th streets
- Phase 3: Summer 2026 to fall 2027 – 11th to Ninth streets
Members of the project team will be available during the open house to answer questions and provide information about planned improvements, project phasing, and the construction schedule. No formal presentation is planned.
Project “O” Street builds on the City’s commitment to improving safety, mobility, and aesthetics throughout downtown while supporting continued economic growth. The event provides an opportunity for residents, property owners, and businesses to learn more about what to expect during construction and how the project will enhance the heart of Lincoln.
