Families Invited to Youth Sports Sign-Up Event October 18

Published on October 13, 2025

The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD), in partnership with Lincoln Community Learning Centers, invites families to the Youth Sports Sign-Up event Saturday, October 18. The free event will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Woods Park, 33rd and “O” streets.

This community event is designed to connect families with affordable local youth sports programs. Attendees can meet with staff from a variety of sports, learn about upcoming seasons, and explore programs that offer low-cost registration, scholarships, or financial assistance for youth ages 3 through 16. There is no cost to attend the sports sign-up or to speak with participating sports programs.

“Every child deserves a chance to play, grow, and thrive, regardless of family income,” said Angelina Stovall-Amos, LLCHD Public Health Education Supervisor. “With more than 170 youth already connected to affordable sports through our past sign-up events, we know the need is real and we’re just getting started. By bringing these opportunities directly to families, we’re removing barriers and helping build healthier, more connected communities, one game at a time.”

The event is held in collaboration with the Lincoln Track Club’s third annual Woods Park Twilight Runs a community-centered race series for all ages and abilities. Proceeds from the run will benefit the Food Bank of Lincoln.

"The Lincoln Track Club is dedicated to encouraging running and overall physical wellness throughout our community, welcoming individuals of all ages and skill levels. We believe that introducing these values to children early on plays a vital role in building lifelong healthy habits,” said Ryan Regnier, Lincoln Track Club President.
