American Job Center Responds to Area Layoffs With Relocation Program

Dislocated Worker Program seeks 40 applicants
Due to recent layoffs affecting thousands of Nebraskans, the American Job Center (AJC), 1330 “N” St., today called upon area employers with job opportunities to contact the AJC regarding participation in its worker relocation program.
Dylan Wren, AJC Workforce Administrator, said the Center’s Dislocated Worker Program connects individuals with jobs in Lancaster and Saunders counties and helps pay for training and relocation. All AJC services are based on eligibility and provided at no cost.
“While this may be a small step in the scope of the thousands affected, it takes all of us across Nebraska doing a little to make a big difference,” Wren said. “Lancaster and Saunders counties offer many welcoming, opportunity-rich communities. To make this initiative successful, we are calling on local employers to help us open doors for individuals looking for new opportunities.”
Wren said the Dislocated Worker Program currently has funds to assist 40 workers and their families. In addition to finding employment for participants, program support includes:
- Truck rental and mileage reimbursement
- Hotel accommodations during the move
- Packing materials
These services will be provided after the individual receives a job offer within the AJC service area, Wren said.
Employers with open positions should contact the Ronesha Love, AJC Operations Manager, at rslove@lincoln.ne.gov or 402-441-7975.
