Parks and Recreation Preschool Registration Opens March 3

The Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department today announced that registration opens 9 a.m. Monday, March 3, for preschool programs that begin in September.

Families may register online at lincoln.ne.gov/civicrec. A $50 non-refundable registration fee is required and space is limited. Children must be toilet trained. The programs are as follows:

Little Sprouts Preschool – Calvert Recreation Center, 4500 Stockwell St. This half-day program is for children ages 3 to 5. In this play-based program children will learn about nature and the world around them in an urban setting while learning other skills for school success. Enrollment options include: 

  • Tuesday and Thursday, 9 to 11:30 a.m. The fee is $ 92 per month.
  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9 to 11:30 a.m. The fee is $127 per month. 
  • Monday through Friday, 9 to 11:30 a.m. The fee is $ 219 per month.

Nature Center Preschool – Pioneers Park Nature Center, 3201 S. Coddington Ave. These play-based programs include hiking, climbing, digging, building, and being outdoors. Children will enjoy the natural world while gaining the skills needed for school readiness. Enrollment options include:  

  • Preschool for ages 3 through 4, Tuesday and Thursday, 9 to 11:30 a.m. The fee is $127 per month.
  • Pre-Kindergarten for ages 4 through 5, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 9 to 11:30 a.m. or 12:45 to 3:15 p.m. The fee is $175 per month.  

Lincoln Parks and Recreation half-day preschool programs have been recognized by Nebraska Step Up to Quality for their commitment to quality childcare and education. Step Up to Quality programs go beyond state licensing requirements to better serve the needs of young children and their families and to prepare them for success in kindergarten and beyond.
