City Crews Stop Wastewater Sewer Line Overflow Thursday Published on March 20, 2025 The Wastewater Division of Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) contained and stopped a wastewater overflow early Thursday, March 20, near Ox Bow Circle and North 33rd Street. A power failure at a lift station caused by the March 19 blizzard, prevented pump movement, which allowed wastewater to back up in the sanitary sewer collection system and release into a portion of Salt Creek. Separation of Yard Waste Begins April 1 Published on March 26, 2021 Beginning Thursday, April 1, Lincoln garbage collectors will collect grass and leaves separately from household trash. State law requires that from April 1 through December 1, grass and leaves must be separated from other waste. Grass and leaves cannot be placed in plastic bags for general garbage collection. Christmas Tree Drop-Off Service Ends January 18 Published on December 28, 2020 All decorations, tinsel, lights, skirts, disposal bags and stands must be removed from trees. This is the 34th year for the City's tree drop-off service, the oldest program of its kind in the state.
