First Street Trail Closure Begins May 6

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities today announced that the First Street Trail at the Oak Creek Bridge will be closed to pedestrians beginning Tuesday, May 6, for bridge repairs. The trail is expected to reopen Friday, May 9, using a temporary pedestrian connection until the bridge work is complete.

Rock Island Trail Bridge Closures Begin April 18

The Parks and Recreation Department today announced that the Rock Island Trail Bridge in Wilderness Park will be intermittently closed beginning Friday, April 18, for repairs and bridge deck sealing. The work is expected to be completed by Friday, April 25.

Temporary Billy Wolff Trail Closure Begins March 27

The Parks and Recreation Department today announced that a portion of the Billy Wolff Trail between South 40th and South streets will close beginning Thursday, March 27, for traffic signal work. A project completion date has not been determined. Barricades and signs will direct trail users to the detour.

Rock Island Trail Bridge in Wilderness Park Now Open

The Parks and Recreation Department today announced that the Rock Island Trail Bridge over Salt Creek in Wilderness Park is now open. The bridge had been under renovations since May 2024 and now connects the Rock Island Trail at Densmore Park to Wilderness Park.

Temporary Wilderness Park Trail Closures Begin January 29

The Parks and Recreation Department today announced that two Wilderness Park trails will temporarily close beginning Wednesday, January 29, for forestry maintenance work. The trails will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to noon daily through March 31, and park visitors are asked to not go beyond the barricades.

Temporary Billy Wolff Trail Closure Begins September 30

Temporary Jamaica North Trail Closure Begins September 20

Beginning Friday September 20, the Jamaica North Trail about one-half mile north of Pioneers Boulevard will close daily between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for debris removal at the bridge over Beal Slough. The trail is expected to reopen by Thursday, September 26.

Billy Wolff Trail Repair Work Begins August 6

The Parks and Recreation Department today announced that a repair project adjacent to the Billy Wolff Trail north of Pansing Park will begin Tuesday, August 6. The trail will remain open and the project is expected to be completed by Friday, August 9.

Salt Creek Levee Trail Closure Begins March 13

Beginning Tuesday, March 13, the Salt Creek Levee Trail between Van Dorn and “O” streets will be closed for a Lower Platte South Natural Resource District trail resurfacing project. The work is scheduled to be completed by April 5.
