City of Lincoln Mayor's Office 2007 Media Releases |
Mayor Chris Beutler and Lincoln Public Schools (LPS) Superintendent Susan Gourley today announced that the City and LPS have reached an agreement to keep 10 School Resource Officers in middle and high schools for the upcoming school year. One Resource Officer is assigned to each of the six public high schools, and four Resource Officers cover the 11 middle schools. “Despite budget constraints, Superintendent Gourley and I believe in the importance of keeping these Officers in our schools,” said Mayor Beutler. “Safety is a top priority for both of us, and I want to thank LPS for working with us to meet this need in our community.” The agreement between the City and LPS will need to be ratified by the City Council and the School Board. |
