21 SPORTS will provide a live Web cast of Wednesday's high school boys basketball game between College View Academy of Lincoln and Maplewood Academy of Hutchinson, Minnesota - a game that will reunite two Sudanese brothers. Tee Chut plays for College View, and Duol Chut plays for Maplewood. The game, part of the Seventh-Day Adventist tournament, begins at 8:30 p.m. at the Union College gymnasium and can be viewed live at www.ucollege.edu.
21 SPORTS is part of the educational access channel on Time Warner Cable in Lincoln (channel 21) and will carry the game on a tape-delayed basis. A schedule is available on the City Web site, lincoln.ne.gov (click on the 5 CITY-TV icon).
We are thrilled that 21 SPORTS will televise our game against Maplewood Academy," said College View Academy Coach Garth Glissman. "It's great exposure for our kids and our basketball program, and the human interest side of the match-up is really special. Tee and Duol haven't seen their father in 12 years. He's currently in New Guinea, and it would be great to help reunite them via the Internet. We're extremely pleased to be able to work with the 21 SPORTS production staff on this telecast and we're very thankful that they've included it in their winter high school sports package.
After seeing an article in the Journal Star about Tee and Duol Chut and their family, we knew we had to do this game," said Bill Luxford, 5 CITY-TV/21 SPORTS Manager. "We are hopeful that we'll be able to make contact with their father allowing him to watch his boys play over the internet live or at a later date. We are also looking to see if we can hook up a SKYPE link so the boys can talk to their father.
Luxford said other Chut family members, including their mother and sister, will be at Wednesday's game. He said his production team will try to interview the Chut family at halftime.
