The Pioneers Park Nature Center invites the public several outdoor events in May. Registration for some events is required by calling 402-441-7895. The events are:
Mother's Day Bird Walk and Brunch - 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday, May 14
Guides for the bird walk will be Dave Titterington, owner of the Wild Bird Habitat Store; Jim Hoke, a Nebraska Master Naturalist; and Andrea Faas, the Nature Center Coordinator. The breakfast will include rolls, fruit and beverages. Binoculars are also available. Space is limited. Registration is required by May 10. The program fee is $16 per person.
Saturday with our Naturalist - 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 20
Join Jamie Kelley, the Nature Center's Naturalist, for a guided tour of our trails to see what is blooming and to watch the wildlife. Dress comfortably for the weather. Registration is required by May 17. The program fee is $5 per person.
Composting Workshop - 10 a.m. Saturday, May 20
The free workshop is sponsored by Nebraska Extension in Lancaster County and the City of Lincoln Recycling Office. Demonstrations by Extension Master Gardeners will show you how to maintain three types of composting bins. The composting demonstration area is across the road from the Prairie Building.
