Lincoln on the Move is investing in improvements to 40th Street from “A” Street to just south of “O” Street. These improvements include a mill and overlay of the existing asphalt surface and repairs to the base layer where required. Widening of 40th Street has been proposed from “L” to “C” streets. Additional work with other funding sources includes upgrades to the existing sidewalk ramps to comply with federal and local standards.
The reconstruction of the intersection of 40th and Randolph streets is included in a separate project.
Randolph Street from Capitol Parkway to 40th Street
This project is programmed as a part of the commitment to voters to invest significant sales tax funds into improvement of existing streets. The project will be funded jointly from the Highway Allocation Funds (aka-Gas Tax) and ¼ cent sales tax for streets in accordance with ballot language.
Construction is planned for the 2024 construction season.
Access During Construction
The project will require lane closures during construction on 40th Street. Sidewalk closures will be necessary while curb ramps are being replaced.
