“Our son loves it and has positive experiences there. He has learned so much! You have a wonderful program and excellent teachers! Thank you for exceeding our expectations!”

Before School and After School Programs

Lincoln Parks and Recreation has been serving Calvert Elementary School families since 1989. We believe supervised, safe, fun, and meaningful out-of-school time school activities are as important as ever. Some families come to the recreation center because it meets their needs for child care and they “need a place to go.” Our staff is intentional about making the rec. center more than just a place to go. We do this by focusing on a positive environment, supportive relationships, and constructive programs. We encourage Calvert Elementary School families to explore all the opportunities available through the rec. center regardless of your child care needs!

History of Calvert

Calvert Recreation Center opened its doors August 28, 1989. Construction of the gymnasium was a joint effort of the Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department and Lincoln Public Schools. This common facilities model allows each agency to save money by sharing costs and space, and in turn, provide affordable recreation and human service opportunities for the community. The partnership grew in 2010 when the Parks and Recreation department joined forces with the school district and Lincoln Community Learning Centers to operate Calvert Community Learning Center (clc) as its lead agency. This strengthens the network of support available to children, youth, families, and the College View Neighborhood, through the coordinated efforts of Calvert Recreation Center, Calvert Elementary School, and other community partners.
