The Friends of Pioneers Park Nature Center organization invites the public to a fundraising bike ride for the Pioneers Park Nature Center, Saturday, June 29. The "Bites, Bikes, and Bison," event is from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Center, 3201 S. Coddington Ave. Check-in starts at 9:30 a.m., and the rides begin at 10 a.m. More information and registration is available at lnknaturecenter.org.
The event features 4-, 11-, and 17-mile bike rides in and around the Center. The two longer routes include stops at Method Cycles and Craft House, White Elm Brewing Company and Saro Cider. Ride support is provided by Wheelie Good Bike Shop. Family activities at the Center include lawn games, a scavenger hunt, a strider course and yoga, with refreshments provided by food trucks and a beer garden.
The $17 registration fee includes the ride, discounted or free drinks at designated stops, access to all activities and a t-shirt. Friends of Pioneers Park Nature Center members may register for $15. Those under 18 years old may attend free when accompanied by a paid registrant. Early registrants are eligible for a free safety check at Wheelie Good ($55 value) to ensure a safe and fun ride.
"This fun event is designed to appeal to cyclists of all ages and skill levels," said Andrea Faas, Nature Center Coordinator. "You also get the benefit of supporting a great cause: environmental education for students."
The Pioneers Park Nature Center conducts hikes for thousands of students and visitors every year and hosts a summer camp program and nature preschool. Support from the Friends of Pioneers Park Nature Center allows the Center to offer free visits and scholarships.
