Climate Smart Collaborative – Lincoln Electric Vehicle Readiness Plan

The Climate Smart Collaborative includes Lincoln Electric System, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lincoln Public Schools, and the City of Lincoln. The Collaborative is continuing to build from the solid foundation set by earlier initiatives like Resilient Lincoln and the Climate Action Plan(PDF, 15MB) by conducting a planning-level project that will develop an Electric Vehicle (EV) Readiness Plan for Lincoln.

Plan Introduction

The EV Readiness Plan will be a comprehensive strategic plan that addresses immediate needs and long-term planning objectives for the community that align with Resilient Lincoln’s goal of an 80% net reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2050.

Plan Goal

The goal of this Plan is to make Lincoln EV ready by developing a vision for electric vehicle readiness, identify key partnerships and actionable strategies needed to achieve the vision, and facilitate community support for electric vehicles.

The Plan Will Include

  • Stakeholder outreach across a variety of sectors
  • Assessment of existing conditions to identify current public, private, workplace, and residential EV adoption, infrastructure, and services, and where gaps exist
  • Equity analysis
  • Identification of infrastructure, service, program, and policy needs
  • Funding guidance
  • Strategy and recommendations for implementing the plan

The draft Plan will be available in the first quarter of 2023.

Stakeholder and Public Engagement

The development of the Plan will be informed through engagement with the Collaborative partners, stakeholders, and the public.
