Nature Center S’mores and Gourds Event set for October 2

Lincoln Parks and Recreation, Lincoln City Libraries, and Big Gumdrop Outdoors invite community members to free, family-friendly outdoor activities Friday, October 2, at Pioneers Park Nature Center, 3201 S. Coddington Ave. The S’mores and Gourds event will be from 6 to 10 p.m. and no registration is required.

Temporary Wilderness Park Trail Closures Begin September 28

Parks and Recreation today announced that several trails throughout Wilderness Park will temporarily close mornings beginning Monday, September 28, for forestry maintenance work. The trails will be closed until noon daily through March 31, 2027.

Tree Distribution Event on September 25 Canceled Due to Weather

The Parks and Recreation Department today announced that the free tree distribution event scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Friday, September 25, has been canceled due to inclement weather. A new distribution date will be announced. The event was to coincide with the Hub and Soul concert at Union Plaza Amphitheater, 210 N. 21st St., which has also been canceled.

Join Big Gumdrop Outdoors and Pioneers Park Nature Center for a night of fall fun! We will carve pumpkins, roast s’mores, and then enjoy an outdoor movie (The Wild Robot) at sundown. All equipment and dinner will be provided. This event is free and for all ages, while
supplies last!

Movies in the Park 2026

Bring lawn chairs and blankets. Movies will begin around 8:45-9:00 p.m., depending on sunset. August 28 movie will begin at 8:20 PM and October 2 movie will begin at 7:25 PM.

In the case of inclement weather, the movies will be moved inside the Recreation Center.
