Aging Partners provides a general list of transportation options available to those living in Lincoln and Lancaster County, Nebraska. If you are in need of additional information, contact the provider directly. (This information is not an inclusive list of providers and pricing is subject to change.)

Lancaster County Public Rural Transit

    Van Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Door-to-door public rural transportation, serving the entire Lancaster County area plus the communities of Adams, Ceresco, Cortland, Eagle and Greenwood. Wheelchair accessible. Cost is $2 one-way, $4 round trip and $20 for a ten-punch rider card. One boarding must occur outside of the Lincoln City limits. As a Demand Route system multiple transfers are available upon request and subject to availability. Morning pick-ups and mid-day transfers are available with afternoon returns. Call to schedule trips as least one day in advance.


StarTran Bus Service — Handi-Van

Door-to-door public rural transportation, serving the entire Lancaster County area plus the communities of Adams, Ceresco, Cortland, Eagle and Greenwood. Wheelchair accessible.  Dashabout Shuttle

Transportation from Colorado to Omaha, or points west. Fare is $39 one-way on a minivan, depending on the route. Shuttle runs seven days a week, depending on the route. You must call 24 hours in advance.


Give-A-Lift Cab Program

Cab coupon subsidy program sponsored by the American Council of the Blind of Nebraska, Lincoln Chapter. You must live in Lincoln city limits, have visual impairment or be blind. You will need to have an application completed and signed by a physician or N.C.B.V.I. counselor. You will receive tickets valued at $200. You pay $100.


Low-Income Monthly Bus Passes

A 31-consecutive day bus pass for eligible low-income patrons is $8 and $16 for Handi-Van patrons. You must show ID. Only one pass per person, per month. Low-income guidelines and pass outlets can be found on the StarTran website.

Ambulatory one-way:  $17
Ambulatory round-trip:  $30
Long distance is ambulatory price plus $2.50 per mile
Wheelchair one-way:  $38
Wheelchair round-trip:  $69
Long distance is wheelchair price plus $2.50 per mile


Mike's HandyVan 
Medicaid Waiver approved provider.

Door-to-door transportation including medical appointments. Cost is $20 one-way and $30 round trip within city limits. Vans are wheelchair accessible. Rides for persons age 60 and over or mobile/visually disabled. Reserve trips 24-hours in advance.


Medicaid Transportation Company
Medicaid Waiver approved provider.

For medical appointments only. They will schedule your trip with a local transportation provider. You must call the transportation company or your Medicaid health plan to schedule your pick-up and return trip rides. You must call at least 3-days in advance to schedule a ride.

When you call, they will need the following:  name, date of birth, Medicaid number, your address and destination address, appointment time
They will also need to know:  use a walker or wheelchair; use a medical escort; have special directions and instructions; are in an authorized Personal Assistance Service (pas) plan


Road to Recovery Transportation

Free transportation to and from medical appointments related to cancer treatment. Sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Not wheelchair accessible. This type of transportation is for cancer patients only and they must live in Lincoln. Call 72 hours in advance for reservations. Patient must be ambulatory.


Senior Saver/Go For Less Cash Fare

Reduced bus fares on fixed-route buses are available to people age 62 and over and disabled persons. Senior Saver, Go-For-Less, Medicare, State ID; or driver’s license must be presented when boarding the bus. Cost is only 85 cents or a 20-ride pass for $16.


VA Medical Center VAMC Transportation

Service hours: 
Lincoln to Omaha: 7:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Omaha to Lincoln: 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Two buses run daily each way from VAMC Lincoln to VAMC Omaha at no charge. You must be a Veteran with appointments in Omaha. For reservations, call 48 hours in advance. 


zTrip (formerly Happy Cab)

For seniors age 65 and over, cost is $2.95 (load fee) plus $1.68 per mile. Also accepts debit and credit cards as a form of payment for a $3 processing fee. Foldable wheelchair only.
