Community Police Teams Primary police services in Lincoln are delivered by over 200 officers assigned to five geographical teams. Three of the five teams operate out of full-service team stations.
Emergency Communications | 911 Center Our dispatchers provide service for the Lincoln Police Department, Lincoln Fire & Rescue, the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, 14 rural fire agencies, as well as the non-emergency telephone lines for police and sheriff.
Traffic Unit The primary goal of the Traffic Unit is to encourage traffic safety through enforcement of Lincoln's traffic ordinances. During a normal year, they issue approximately 60% of the total number of speeding citations department-wide.
Gang Unit The Gang Unit works to proactively identify gang involvement and develop intelligence related to criminal activity.
Canine Unit Lincoln's canines perform a variety of duties including suspect tracks, building searches, drug detection, explosives detection and open-area searches.
School Resource Officers This specialized assignment allows the SRO an opportunity to develop relationships with students and staff, and focus on individual school needs.
Victim Assistance The Lincoln Police Department's Victim Assistance Unit provides a free public service to victims and witnesses of crime, as well as those impacted by suicide.
Special Teams Employees of the Lincoln Police Department are afforded opportunities to expand their position and participate in special assignments.
