Controlled Burn in Wilderness Park Scheduled for January 6

Parks and Recreation staff will conduct a controlled burn from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, on about 7 acres of the Sandstone Prairie near South First Street and Pioneers Boulevard in Wilderness Park. There are no trail closures, but community members are advised to avoid the area during this project.

Mayor to Present November 2025 Awards of Excellence

The awards will be presented at 3 p.m. at the beginning of the City Council meeting at the County-City Building, 555 S. 10th Street.

Temporary MoPac Trail Closure Begins January 7

The Parks and Recreation Department today announced that a portion of the MoPac Trail between North 48th and North 56th streets will close from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, for tree work. The project is expected to be completed by Thursday, January 8.

City Announces Snowplow Naming Contest Winners

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) today announced the winning names for the Name That Snowplow contest. Decals with the winning names will be placed on eight snowplows. The community should expect to see them in service by spring 2026.
