The Lincoln Police Department will be conducting a Safety and Sobriety Checkpoint on Saturday evening, October 27, 2007. The Sobriety Checkpoint will be conducted between the hours of 10:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 27th until 2:00 a.m., Sunday October 28th 2007.

Additional officers for the enforcement project, as well as the sobriety checkpoint are made possible with a grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.
Last year Lincoln police officers investigated 8,522 traffic accidents in which 2,576 people were injured and 10 people were killed. Officers also arrested 2,149 drivers in 2006, for driving under the influence.
