Lincoln Man Arrested for 1st Degree Murder
John Le was arrested on June 23, 2008 at 8:30 am for his involvement in the June 8, 2008 shooting of Joseph Garza at 4300 Cornhusker Highway. Lincoln Police Department’s investigation of the incident led us to believe that John Le fired the handgun that injured both Joseph Garza and Benjamin Velde. Twenty two year old Joseph Garza has suffered life altering injuries as a result of the assault. Benjamin Velde sustained an injury to his right shoulder.
On Sunday, June 8, 2008, at 3:35 am, officers were sent to the area of 4300 Cornhusker on a report of gunshots. As officers arrived, they found Joseph Garza with multiple gunshot wounds and a stab wound to his face. Several men went to the apartment building to confront Garza and continue an argument that occurred the previous Friday. That argument was related to narcotics. During the fight, shots were fired that injured both Garza and Velde.
John Le is the fourth man arrested in this case. The day of the shooting, Robert Reynozo was arrested for Criminal Conspiracy. The following week, Benjamin Velde and Anthony Tran were lodged in jail for Aid and Abet a Felony.
